I'm reposting the shoe cake for an update in the story.as you know, I made the shoe cake and won 3rd prize for most creative.
I sent a letter, and pictures of my cake, to my company's news letter, and to the Caparros shoe company. My company didn't even acknowledge they got my pictures. I did get two framed and matted certificates of my award, but Giant also framed the advertisement they use for award winning cakes along with it. It wouldn't be so bad, but my cake didn't make the ad! So other peoples cakes are in my award. And to top it off, I have two of them. ONe for home and one for the store. Where in my home do they expect me to hand a Giant Ad? I'm just curious.

Caparros did respond!
Ms. Caparros called my house shortly after recieving my letter, unfortunately I was at work and didn't get the call. That was in March and I figured it was the end of it. Running a shoe company is probably complicated and takes up a bunch of your time.

So, Ms. Caparros delegated to job to Ed, who called the other night to tell me that everyone at Caparros loved my cake! THe pictures I sent made it through the company, and they had never seen anything like it.
As a thank you, he said, Caparros wanted to give me 3 pairs of shoes.
So, I went to the web site and picked them out and Ed will send them to me! Isn't that something?all this generosity has me inspired for my next cake...I think I could make a DeBeers diamond out of sugar...or maybe a Lexus....
